Optimize your images for SEO by simply renaming your files.
They say an image is worth a thousand words, well at least it does for Google and your SEO. Google crawls through your page to extract information to serve the right customers with the right content. Not just the words on the page but also the images.
The role of images is becoming more crucial in providing context and information on the content to the crawlers. It does so by translating the images into keywords to become discoverable.
To optimize images for SEO, it all starts with the file name as it provides a clue into the image’s purpose. Although something so easily glanced over, it could have a difference in your search performance, particularly if you use images to communicate your story visually.
An example of this is the file name Travel_Madrid_Gran_Via.jpg which is preferred over IMG001116.jpg. The recommendation is to rename the file name with the focus keyword or key phrase, followed by a key phrase as a descriptor of the image.
